Created in 1996 and focused on areawide revitalization, the Office of Economic & Community Development facilitates economic growth by fostering development opportunities, increasing local investment and marketing the city.
The Office of Economic & Community Development works with business and industry, developers, landowners and community groups to encourage investment in commercial, industrial and office districts through technical assistance.
The Office of Economic & Community Development objective is to create an environment conducive to private investment and establish relationships which enable the city to best understand the development opportunity, then forge it into a profit center for Whitehall.
The Office of Economic & Community Development strives to keep existing Whitehall business growing and to bring new business and jobs to the city. This is accomplished via site visitations, site and infrastructure research, coordinating investment incentive and capital improvement packages, employment assistance and networking with local, state and federal governments, as well as the private sector, to meet the needs of Whitehall’s existing and prospective businesses.
Simply stated, we’re looking for serious, solid real estate developers, investors or business entrepreneurs to partnership with us in areas of the community which have experienced a lack of investment or even disinvestment.
